Thoughts on BJTU

I am very grateful to the school for providing us with comprehensive help, as soon as we arrived, our buddy picked us up in the airport and led us to the university. This is a great initiative from BJTU and also helped us a lot with all the bureaucracy paperwork that had to be done,so that I can smoothly integrate into the new life in China.

The university has a very big campus where you can find all the commodities needed for the daily life. There are supermarkets, shops and restaurants nearby. Same with sharing bikes and a metro station around a 10/15 minute walk. There are also bus stops in front of each of the university gates.

School life

The school of economics and management is well recognized and rated around China and known for their MBAs. I took courses from different masters related to innovation management, managerial economics, international business and data models. All of them were taught by very well prepared teachers that were important people in the business world and came from different places to teach us the courses (Unites States, Netherlands, China... among others).

Life in China

In China, everything can be paid through Wechat or Alipay. So in order to be able to put money into these Apps. You will need a Chinese bank account. This should be done at the very beginning. There are several banks around university where you can do it. Ask your buddy and he will help you with everything. Renting an apartment in Beijing is very hard and not cheap. That is why most of the international students decide to stay in the university dormitories.

Useful tips

Orientation:

BJTU facilitates a buddy to every two international students in order to have help with the integration and the first day paperwork.Both Chinese and international, that help you with every doubt and guide you through the procedures.

There is several paperwork that has to be done the first days: accommodation,health insurance,SIM card,bank account,residence permit.It is a very long procedure but you are able to get almost everything done in the first day.

Courses:

The courses taught by recognized international professors that come from all around the world to give interesting courses related to different projects such as innovation, management or economics.

Most of the courses followed the American system and were practical, interactive and dynamic classes standing out in case of theoretical courses with big exams. This allowed us to be able to follow the classes in a very interactive way and learning from all of them.
