China-Europe railway transportation lines involve many countries. There are various differences among those countries on some aspects, such as environment features due to the geographic location, the cultural and language characteristics, the inconsistent technology criterion and regulation system, etc. Therefore, it is inevitable to generate risks (e.g. nature risk, social risk, technology risk, management risk, etc) that hamper the development of China-Europe railway lines and transportation business. In order to promote the China-Europe railway transportation, it is necessary to analyze the effects of the risks, and search the solution to eliminate them. The following research questions could be considered:

1) Identification of the potential risks and the analysis of their effects

2) The design of China-Europe railway lines under the consideration of risks

3) Analysis of the solutions improving the operating effectiveness of China-Europe railway transportation
